Economic Congress in Białystok

New markets can be gained by opening up to Poland’s neighbouring countries. Aware of these opportunities, Zbigniew Chyliński, Director of the PKP Energetyka Northern Branch, took part in a panel discussion on business relations between Poland and Lithuania, as PKP Energetyka has recently become a member of the Polish-Lithuanian Chamber of Commerce.

The successful first edition of the Eastern Economic Congress in 2014 showed there was a real need for debate about the future of Poland’s eastern macro-region. The Congress was a success, as seen in the number of conclusions and recommendations reached, as well as its impressive turnout. It also received wide media coverage, which is very important for promoting Poland’s eastern regions as attractive investment destinations. The event had a broad agenda, focusing on key themes for the future and economic development of eastern Poland.

Topics of the 2nd Eastern Economic Congress included the economic condition and prospects of the eastern part of Europe, security, international and cross-border cooperation, as well as the role of major infrastructure projects, with a detailed analysis of such sectors as energy, food and agriculture, medical services, trade, tourism and hotel industry.

The 2nd Eastern Economic Congress in Białystok brought together more than a thousand guests, including local, regional and European politicians, business leaders, representatives of Polish and foreign companies, experts, and scientists.
